Asphalt Removal and New Driveway Build in Campbell River

This one started from scratch. The old asphalt was pulled out completely, and we got to work on building a brand-new driveway the right way - from the ground up. That means proper excavation, grading the sub-base, and running a plate compactor over every inch before anything else goes down. That step alone makes a massive difference in how long a driveway holds up.

A lot of people don't realize how much work goes into the prep. Skipping steps or rushing through site prep is exactly how you end up with cracking, settling, and water pooling years down the road. We don't cut corners on that stuff. The base has to be right before the surface ever goes on.

You can see the scope of this one - it's a wide, full-coverage pour serving a double-garage on a newly rebuilt home. Formwork was set tight and clean, the gravel base was compacted in passes, and the concrete was poured and finished to give a flat, even surface that drains properly and looks sharp against the new build.

The finished driveway sits flush, clean, and solid. Expansion joints scored right through the slab, good edge definition, and a surface that's ready to handle years of daily use. That's what proper driveway prep and concrete work looks like when it's done right.
