Six brand new homes. All bare dirt and construction chaos when we showed up. Here's what we were working with - raw lots, uneven grade, no drainage, no driveways, nothing. That's honestly one of our favourite starting points, because we get to handle everything from the ground up and make sure it's done right the first time.
The scope on this one was a full landscape package across all six properties. That means irrigation systems, topsoil placement, grass seed, river rock, and final grading to get the drainage working properly. Getting the grade right is something a lot of people overlook, but it's probably the most important part of the whole job. If water doesn't move away from the foundation the way it should, you end up with problems that are expensive to fix later.
We also handled the driveways - blue chip gravel for some units and concrete aprons for others, depending on the layout. Blue chip is a popular choice for new builds. It drains well, holds its shape, and looks clean without a lot of maintenance. Pair that with a solid concrete apron at the garage, and you've got a driveway setup that works hard and holds up over time.
The site prep side of things - grading, clearing, and moving material between six lots - took serious machine work. Mini excavators and skid steers were running the whole time to keep things moving across multiple properties at once. That kind of coordination is what makes or breaks a multi-home job like this. One lot waiting on material while another is ready to go can throw the whole schedule off.
Seeing bare lots turn into finished, move-in ready yards across a full development is genuinely satisfying. Every home got the same attention to detail - proper drainage, clean driveways, prepped soil ready to grow. That's the standard we hold regardless of whether it's one lot or six.
